Today is a big day for the team here at Vizlib—we are finally ready to unveil the refreshed identity, logo and product look!
We loved our old logo and know many felt the same. There’s no hiding the fact that breakups are really hard and it’s tough to say goodbye, but we know the time has come!
We have evolved drastically as a company since our inception and it’s time to refresh our identity to mirror our growth. Here’s what’s changing and why…
From a visualisation library to a product company
Changing a logo is not an easy decision and certainly not something that we’ve done just for the sake of changing. We’ve arrived at the point in our journey where the current identity simply doesn’t accurately represent who we are anymore.
Vizlib started out as a vizualisation library. Our original logo was designed and created long before we truly launched as a company and put our product out there in the market. Our vision back then was to create a library of extensions for an enhanced dashboarding experience in Qlik Sense—supported, with more functionality, and more formatting options. And so we called our first product Vizlib Library.
With that in mind, we designed a playful and distinct logo which represented both a visualisation (bar chart), and a library (bookshelf).
Today, Vizlib Library has evolved into an awesome product with 22 extensions! It now solves all the typical dashboarding and guided analytics needs in Qlik Sense: from basic visualisations (Line Chart, Combo Chart, Bar Chart etc.), tables (pivot & straight), advanced visualisations (KPI Designer, Sankey, Venn) to a rich selection of control elements which significantly improve the user experience (Container, Sheetmenu, Button, etc).
So why the big change?
? We’ve grown up.
What was once a tiny startup with 2 co-founders evolved into a company with over 60 employees, 5 value-added products, 4 office locations and 600+ enterprise customers.
With hundreds of enterprise clients in our customer base, we realised that we need a brand identity that shows we are a trusted and reliable technology partner. So while we remain a highly agile and dynamic team, we bid goodbye to our faithful astronaut character and launch into a whole new stratosphere—with a much more grown-up look!
? Our brand has expanded.
Vizlib Library, our flagship product, is packed with advanced charts and powerful out-of-the-box capabilities. It’s what earned us the reputation of a pioneering technology partner in the Qlik ecosystem.
But we have since rolled out some incredible value-added products that go far beyond data visualisation, creating a comprehensive 360° product offering and covering all our customers’ analytics needs: from guided analytics and self-service to commentary, writeback, financial reporting and project planning.
The current logo doesn’t reflect our brand as a product family but is rather tied to our initial first product, and that had to change!
? We’ve acquired other products.
After the acquisition of Climber Extensions last year, we encountered the brand integration challenge and had to find a way to create a consistent visual experience and messaging for the entire product suite.
#AddMoreVizlib: the idea behind our refreshed branding
Here’s the thing: we wanted to change our logo and create a more consistent visual identity, but we didn’t want to lose the hard-won recognition value… (you know, to have one’s cake and eat it ?) After a long exploration phase, we found a solution that lets us do both!
Retaining the familiar tilting bar, we’ve enriched our logo with a plus symbol.
We believe that Vizlib is all about adding value. Be it advanced capabilities out-of-the-box, game-changing solutions like writeback and commenting, or an enhanced and streamlined user experience. Our products add more power, interaction, freedom, possibilities and wow to customers’ analytics solutions. And that makes the “+” a perfect symbol of our value proposition.
And when it comes to our product suite, we’ve set out to achieve two key things: create a consistent, easily recognisable look across the product family, as well as communicate one of our unique USPs—the ease of use of our products.
The geometric shapes featured in our product logos tie in perfectly with data visualisation as well as reflect the low-code approach to our product offering. It alludes to the flexibility of “building blocks” often used for intuitive, educational children’s games. With our products, there’s no coding required. Setting everything up is a matter of configuration, enabling your citizen analyst to explore their data and even create dashboards with little to no training.
We won’t bore you with the design thinking and meaning of every angle and curve of the new logo or product look—you’re busy people, and our main intention for this post is to let you know about the change, so you won’t be too surprised when the icons on your phone/laptop/tablet look a little different.
TL;DR: We have refreshed Vizlib’s logo, branding and website design.
